We are the BABYGAYS, Amsterdam’s queer women’s field hockey team. We train every week, play matches and tournaments and socialize with friends.
Our goal is to provide an inclusive and safe environment for queer and trans women, as well as non-binary people, to play their favourite sport.
Founded in 2012, the BABYGAYS began as a group of hockey-loving queer friends that has grown into an established well-loved, inclusive and sports-focused community. Hockey sits at the epicenter of this community with weekly trainings at AMVJ hockey club that are open to everyone. We end our year with the annual EuroGames tournament, Europe’s largest queer multi-sport event. We’ve won several medals here, and can’t wait to go for more at this year’s tournament in Vienna!
The BABYGAYS is a part of PinkHockey, the organization for queer field hockey across the world.
We believe everybody can play hockey. The BABYGAYS is open to everyone who wants to be themselves while playing sports. We hold open trainings twice during the year and welcome every level of experience. As of now, we have over 60 active members and compete with two teams at the EuroGames. Our members range from absolute beginners to ex-Hoofdklasse players.
